In 2006 I re located to Hobart, Tasmania, Australia after selling all my ceramics studio equipment before leaving the UK. I felt it was time to embark on some new challenges and leave ceramics behind me, particularly as I had moved to a visually stimulating environment. I had intended to start painting again and wanted to explore the potential of Hobart harbour and the stunning coastal region of North East Tasmania...in particular, Coles Bay, Binalong Bay and the Bay of Fires. I began by using the camera to record the imagery and set about abstracting these photographic records, via digital imaging, with the intention of developing ideas for paintings and prints. In short, I was captivated by this process and have continued to use it as my main creative direction and this book "A Sense of Place" is a visual and verbal record of my work from 2006 to the present.
